Miscellaneous Quotes I
Sometimes I wish time could be turned back and slates could be wiped clean of all the wrongs...there are so many regrets, so many things I sought to change to regain the happiness that once possessed my soul...all that is but a memory and the fire of my soul ceases to burn...great uncertainty lingers in my sound...a soul once lost...a soul that seeks to be found...the world is filled with pain and hurt...but what drives us is hope that things in the end will turn out as we have hoped and that goodness truly is imprinted in the depths of mankind...~Nilu Roodsari
As I walk along the ocean, the wind caresses my hair. The subtle waves beckon me…. they call out to me, but I’m too afraid to respond. I stand there frozen as the wind circles around me. It touches my face, but not my spirit. I long for an awakening, a realization that will never come…I stand there paralyzed, waiting, searching, hoping…. The fire that once burned and shed light within my soul has died out. Now only darkness lingers trapping my spirit in ever-bounding chains. The darkness within is not one of night, but of evil, of wrongdoing, the same evil that is within the depths of all man. It locks my soul in chains and I attempt to release it from the darkness that is overbearing, steadily growing, and engulfing my soul. But my spirit is weak, weak from all the hurt…from all the wounds that have scarred me and have ceased to heal. When will my soul be saved from the anguish and who will save it? Only I can take up the task to free my suffering soul…. to break the bonds and unlink the chains, fort hen I can gain everlasting peace…but, what if I’m not strong enough to fight the darkness? I am just one person, all alone against a powerful force…but, still I struggle to find myself and to find the strength I need to fight…I am a fighter…and in the end I will be victorious… ~Nilu Roodsari
“Innocence,
the very essence of childhood…you hear the laughter of a child that is hard at
play. Does the child not see the pain around them or does the child choose to
ignore it? Only down the street you hear the cry of a woman who has been
beaten...who has suffered unimaginable hurt…how could these two people share
the same world…be of the same existence? The child’s innocence is
intertwined with blindness, unintentional blindness to the evils around
them…the evils so greatly rooted within society. So I ask myself, once this
innocence is lost, can it ever be regained, or is that part of life…a step in
our journey to finding ourselves. I envy the child who does not see…who does
not feel pain and hurt, or maybe the child does see, but doesn’t know how to
express it. Every man wears a mask to hide his soul; a child does not need
one…their soul is pure and untouched…I yearn to remove the mask I have worn
and free my soul from this confinement, to show the world who I am, but there is
fear. Fear for acceptance; for belonging…so does that woman wear a mask? A
mask to hide all the pain and suffering…and why can’t the mask be removed?
It may be so enrooted as a part of us, that without it we lose our identity…I
hope to regain the innocence once lost, to be blinded to the darkness around
us…but innocence can’t be regained...once it is lost, it is forever
gone…once a person is exposed, they are forever marked…to erase this mark is
impossible because one cannot step back in life, only forward. So, I chose to
step forward, with my mask, and with my new power to see the world around
me…my only hope is that I can handle what I see…” ~Nilu Roodsari
